Moana's Cutie Mark

So I'm not currently making models due to life stuff, but that doesn't mean the creativity has stopped. I love making Cutie Marks, and I wanted to stay true to Moana's Polynesian culture the same way I did with my Lion King models and African culture.

I did some research and found Tattoo symbols that would fit her character and story, and this is what I came up with.

The turtle symbolizes long life, fertility, wellness, union, and family. All meanings her father wouldn't question with her being the future chief. It also encompasses her destiny to bring her people back to the water as voyagers, as it also symbolizes the Navigator.

The sun symbolizes riches, brilliance, grandness, leadership, and eternity. All very good symbols for a future leader of the people, as well as her future connections with Maui and Te Fiti.

The little swirls are the ocean, which symbolize fertility and persistence. Persistence is a good quality for a leader, and something Moana is definitely not short on.

The little figures above the ocean are called Enata, which depict humans. My research says a circle of Enata depict humans in a group activity, such as warriors or family. I wasn't quite able to achieve a circle, but I felt a group of Enata within the Mark would be a good way to depict Moana's devotion to her people.
